The Big Beg

Published by kathleen

Ok so major sponsorship has not occured.

If you have joined us on this fast paced trip around the world, you have experienced the joys of exotic landfalls, sightings of penguins, sailing through ice.

Ushuaia to South Georgia 585
Ushuaia to South Georgia 135

You have also experienced the heartbreak of gear failures, broken boat parts and the mold monster.

Failed Starter

If you have liked it or learned from it and have some extra cash to help support the cause. Please consider making a gift to Stephen, Kathleen and  the good ship Tawodi.

The easiest way for this to process is to send a check or money order for your well appreciated donations to:

2726 Shelter Island Dr. #157, San Diego, CA 92106.

Checks should be made out to Capt. Stephen Mann.  Again your donations are very much appreciated, as this adventure has come directly from our own pockets, and all of the trials and tribulations of such an undertaking have certainly come to hit home rather hard.  We are happy to live them….and happy to share them…and we think the world of those that have seen it in their hearts to lend us a hand when we need it.  We are deeply thankful to the friends who continue to support us.

We all know it’s not easy to live life fully, to constantly move toward and through challenge. It’s also not always cheap.   An expensive and fragile life comes with the experience, an experience purchased mostly with our own wallet.

No sponsors, no big funding.  No insurance, no safety net.

Sailing along the Chilean Coast

Originally this page came out before we hauled the boat out and lavished her with shiny paint, before the batteries, before departure.

We´re past all of that now, which means we´re as poor as impoverished church mice.  Poor but successful.

We´re also back home in San Diego.   Broken thing have accumulated and we are in even greater need for any financial kindness thrown our way.  We´d  gladly, happily, joyfully give anyone a roaring good photo slide show and salty dog lecture in exchange for a monetary investment.  The boat can be made available for show or sail.

Happy Couple off Cape Horn

Our hands are out and we’re saying please.

Interest, help, advice and even criticism can be sent to: cptmann@gmail.com

Thanks for anything and everything.

Stephen and Kathleen: I LOVE your website. Kathleen, you are the queen of dialog - so very clever and funny. So, there you go - Stephen may know a LOT about sailing, but you keep us all entertained with your wit.
Anyway, I’d like your email address, and a way to access the photos you took online if that is possible. I must have antiquated equipment, because the DVD -R doesn’t work in our computer and I’m dying to see those photos you took.

We loved having you both come along this past weekend - it was so nice to see that sail ahead and know we were in the right direction. I wish we had more time together - it was a crazy busy weekend. Next year - Baja California - Sea of Cortez. Warm. Short sailing distances. Great little islands to sail to in reasonable distances. I have some photos to send you, too.

    Love you both,
    Diana XOXO

Hi Stephen, and Kathleen,I finally found a moment to check out your Webpage,it’s great!!
I know your getting ready to go,I wish you good luck on a great adventure,I’ll be working my way up the coast of Australia, keeping S.V. Petrel amused with new sights and sounds, and hopefully one day will find a permanant first mate.
Hopefully we might cross paths like Hanalei Bay where are little yachts hooked up.
Good luck, have fun,and mostly be safe, and thanks for your on going inspiration.
