Valentines day
The holiday for lovers found me alone. I spent Saturday racing on a beautiful yawl in an Ancient Mariner’s regatta. On Sunday I spent the bulk of the day riding the motorcycle on the road. I went inland to Julian, taking Wynola Rd. along the way, then rode down Banner grade out to Borrego Springs and took Montozuma grade up from the desert, then up over Mesa Grande and down to San Isabel. Another trip on Wynola Rd. then over Mt. Laguna, which still has snow. I ate an early dinner at Descanso with a Moto Guzzi rider I met on Mt. Laguna (who turned out to be a carpenter at Shelter Island Boatyard), then out to O.B. for a rum drink at Cheswicks, lost the Guzzi on the way. Came back to Shelter Island, parked the bike and rowed home. No flowers or chocolate.
